About my Photography: My photography is an extension of who I am and how I see the world. At times, it can be vibrant and exciting, other times it is moody and dark. Some images are straight out of the camera, others have gone through creative post-processing. I am not going to get on a high horse and try to convince you about the need for post processing. You either like it, or you don’t, but I consider it just another tool in my artistic kit. My work is collected in the United States, Canada, and the UK and I have been deeply honored to donate my work for charitable auctions to raise money for breast cancer research in New York. Some of my photography and artwork has been included in Sky and Telescope Magazine, several ornithological publications, newsletters for the Seattle Aquarium, and others.
About Me: Born and raised in the glitz of Las Vegas, I could constantly be found searching for the real world. I would follow ants on their journey, lie on my back and look up at the clouds, or beg to be taken to Lake Mead, just to escape the artificiality of the man-made “paradise”. Eventually I found my own Eden in the Pacific Northwest, or so I thought. Though the area was filled with natural beauty, the constant rain and dark days caused a claustrophobic effect and I am have now moved to the high desert in California. Over the course of my photographic adventures, I have acquired the nickname “WildMaven.” Maven is defined as: “a trusted adviser in a particular field, who seeks to pass knowledge on to others.” I’ve always tried to encourage others to open their eyes to the natural world and enjoy the beauty they otherwise would have missed. If I can convince one kid to step away from the video game and go outside, then my life here on earth is worth it.
…and, yes, I still follow ants.
